Wölffer Caya Cabernet Franc Named One of America's Best by Robb Report
We're delighted to share that Robb Report has included our 2021 Caya Cabernet Franc in its list of "7 Outstanding American Cabernet Francs to Drink Right Now." Selected by wine writers Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jenssen, Caya stands alongside celebrated producers from Napa, Sonoma, Washington and the Finger Lakes. It is the only wine from Long Island on the list.
A Grape That Feels at Home Here
In the feature, the writers note that Cabernet Franc is now firmly rooted in North America, with more American winemakers crafting 100 percent Cabernet Franc wines. On Long Island, our maritime climate brings cool ocean breezes and a long, gentle growing season. These conditions let the grape ripen slowly while keeping its freshness and aromatic lift.
About the 2021 Caya Cabernet Franc
Robb Report describes Caya as "dark garnet colored with aromas of plum, Mission fig, and black licorice." On the palate, they highlight silky tannins supporting flavors of black raspberry, cherry and dried savory spices. It is an elegant, expressive red that pairs beautifully with early fall dinners and gatherings with friends.
Rooted in the Hamptons Since 1988
Wölffer has been making sustainably farmed wines in the Hamptons since Christian Wölffer founded the estate in 1988. Today it is led by his children, Joey and Marc Wölffer, together with winemaker and partner Roman Roth. The estate spans 170 acres on Long Island's South Fork and 28 acres on the North Fork.
