Celebrating Tradition at the 50th Hampton Classic Horse Show

Celebrating Tradition at the 50th Hampton Classic Horse Show

The Hampton Classic Horse Show 2025

Just moments down the road from our Sagaponack Vineyard lays the annual end-of-season hallmark, the Hampton Classic. Now on its 50th year, Wölffer has proudly been a part of putting on this historic equestrian event for over 10 years, with Co-Owner Joey Wolffer having a seat on the board as well as our wines being the select choice of the week.

We honored this golden anniversary in true Wölffer style, hosting a Wednesday evening welcome party at our Wine Stand that brought together over 200 guests who participated in or helped bring the show to life.

The Sport

Competition began Saturday, August 23rd, featuring everything from “Lead line” all the way up to the $400,00 5* 1.60-meter Longines Grand Prix. Wölffer proudly sponsored Friday’s International Class: the $32,000 Wölffer Estate 2* Grand Prix Qualifier, which drew a global field and included our very own Joey Wölffer. Stella Wasserman guided her own “Myjorka” to the win.

Tradition & Heritage Prevails

For Wölffer, the Hampton Classic is more than a sponsorship; it is an extension of the estate’s identity. Founded by Christian Wölffer with deep equestrian ties and carried forward by Joey Wölffer’s own career in the sport, the vineyard’s presence resonates authentically in Bridgehampton’s agricultural and broader horse presence. The Classic simply underscores how Wölffer bridges wine, sport, and community effortlessly.

Competition Meets Hamptons Lifestyle

If you did not find yourself competing or browsing the array of shops the showground had to offer, you may have found yourself at one of the bars! The VIP area boasted outrageously gorgeous tablescapes that lined two of the major show rings, including our very own Summer in a Bottle Loire Valley inspired tables which earned a 3rd place in the tablescape competition. Within this setting, Wölffer whites and rosés circulated as riders and spectators socialized, discussing Labor Day plans or perhaps what their next glass may be.
